Should I be prepared for the worst based on the rate my hcg levels are rising?

At aproximately 5 weeks 3 day (since the first day of my last period) my hcg levels were 20,000 and then 49 hours later they were 29,000. Obviously the number didn’t double. I have read that it may take longer for higher numbers to double, but I’ve also read that this slow down won’t happen until 6-7 weeks.  I don’t know what to think, plus I’m wondering if 20,000 at 5 weeks is too high.

  • 20,000 @ 5 weeks is REALLY high unless its multiples. After you get so far a long in pregnancy the hcg numbers will stop doubling and get slower. What did your dr. say?? Im thinking you are probably further a long than you think or, are having multiples. And with 20,000 @ 5 weeks, triplets.
