What amount of HCG does a doctors office/hospital urine pregnancy test detect?

NOT the store bought kind.

Answer:

Their urine tests are pretty much the same with the store bought ones.

Some are more sensitive to HCG and are more accurate than the store bought ones.

  • If i had to guess I would say probably 20 MIU’s. But that is a guess. That is usually the lowest prediction unless you get a blood test than its lower.

  • Here’s the big secret:

Doctor’s offices and hospitals use the same pregnancy tests (and sometimes lower quality) that you can buy over the counter. They just buy them in big packages. They are NOT better than the ones you can buy at any store.

Blood tests are a lot more accurate, but I have a good friend who had TWO negative blood tests and multiple negative urine tests at the doctor’s office, when she already had like 15 positive home pregnancy tests. She really was pregnant.

  • if the blood results are over 5 then you are pregnant, ideally they should double every 24-48 hours after that. GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!

sorry-didnt pay attention! Offices use pretty much the same thing as you can buy- has to usually be over 25 to read +

  • When I took a blood test they told me the hormone level was only at 38. Which meant I was pregnant…but barely (as in, newly pregnant)

I assume a number a little larger than that would be needed to get a dark + from a urine test.

    Just a guess. I’m not a doctor!

Also, two days before I had the pregnancy test, I tested at home with First Response and had a faint + line. That is why I requested a blood test. Apparently, the blood test told me the same thing as the store bought urine test. I was faintly pregnant.
